Abdul Mumin’s Rayo Vallecano secure European football for the first time in 24 years

Ghana defender Abdul Mumin’s Rayo Vallecano were buzzing at full time after they secured a first European spot in almost 30 years.

Vallecano went into their final La Liga game, knowing perfectly well that avoiding defeat will aid their quest in gaining an European berth.

They managed to play out a goalless stalemate against Mallorca – a result which left Vallecano on 52 points, same as Osasuna.

Vallecano edged Osasuna on head to head rule with both sides locked on points.

The draw means Vallecano have qualified for the Conference League and will make just their second European appearance – their first since 2001.

Ghana defender Mumin, who suffered a thigh injury in March will look to join his teammates for the crunch games next season.
