Ghanaian-Nigerian centre-back Abdul Mumin has joined Girona from Rayo Vallecano on a free transfer, beginning a new chapter in Spain at the age of 28.
Mumin’s move was completed on 18 August 2026, ending his time with Rayo Vallecano and taking him to Girona. The transfer keeps the defender in Spain, with Rayo competing in LaLiga and Girona listed in LaLiga2.
The Accra-born defender has agreed a contract with Girona that runs until 30 June 2029. He will become part of the club’s defensive group after playing primarily as a centre-back during his career.
Mumin stands 1.88m tall and is right-footed. His international background incorporates both Ghana and Nigeria, while his listed national team is Ghana. He has also been included in Girona’s player records for the 2026 World Cup competition.
The transfer gives Girona a defender with experience of Spanish football through his time at Rayo Vallecano. Mumin’s market value is listed at €3m, although Girona have secured his arrival without a transfer fee.
His arrival was recorded on the same date as the completion of the move, and his new deal ties him to the club for the next three seasons. Mumin’s contract with Girona runs through June 2029.
