Abdul Mumin, the Ghana-Nigeria centre-back currently without a club after leaving Rayo Vallecano, is being linked with a move to LaLiga side Getafe. The 28-year-old defender, who was born in Accra and stands at 1.88m, is understood to be on the Spanish club’s radar as they assess options to strengthen the heart of their defence ahead of the new campaign.
Mumin became a free agent on 1 July 2026 after his spell at Rayo ended, making him an attainable target without a transfer fee. His current market value is listed at €3m, a figure that underlines his status as an experienced top-flight defender still in his prime years. The prospect of securing a centre-back with LaLiga experience on a free transfer is thought to be a key factor in Getafe’s interest.
The right-footed defender moved to Spain in September 2022, when Rayo Vallecano signed him from Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes for €1.5m. That transfer followed a productive spell in Portugal, which itself came after Mumin’s development in Denmark with FC Nordsjaelland, having progressed from their youth ranks following a move from the Right to Dream Academy.
Mumin holds nationalities with both Ghana and Nigeria, adding to his appeal as a player with a diverse footballing background. With his contractual situation leaving him free to negotiate immediately, his future is expected to be decided once Getafe determine whether to formalise their interest in the out-of-contract defender.
