Manchester United give injury and team news vs Brighton

Marcus Rashford is out with bronchitis, but Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has returned to contention for this weekend’s match against Brighton.

29-year-old Maguire missed Manchester United’s draw with Chelsea and win against Brentford owing to a knee injury, but has since recovered.

In Maguire’s absence, Victor Lindelof has paired Raphael Varane, but he may have to make way for the England international if Rangnick decides to immediately insert the center-back.

Rashford, on the other hand, did not play in Monday’s 3-0 victory against Brentford for United.

Rangnick, speaking ahead of his penultimate game in charge of United, said: “Harry is back in training, he trained the whole week since the second day after the Brentford game so he will be available for tomorrow and part of the group.

“Marcus Rashford will be missing, he’s got bronchitis with a high temperature so he won’t be part of the group and we have a question mark on Eric Bailly. He has problems with his back.”

Sixth-place Manchester United, who are six points ahead of seventh-place West Ham, enter Saturday night’s match at The Amex in the sixth position. If they complete the season in fifth or sixth place, they will qualify for the Europa League the following year.

Rangnick’s squad will conclude their season on May 22 at Crystal Palace before Erik ten Hag assumes over for the upcoming season.
