Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah names preferred Champions League final opponents

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has revealed who he would prefer to face in the 2022 Champions League final.

This of course comes after Liverpool booked their spot in the competition’s showpiece on Tuesday evening.

The Reds took on Spanish outfit Villarreal, heading into the second leg with a 2-0 advantage. However, thanks to arguably the worst half of football from Liverpool this term, Unai Emery and co. were back on level terms by the break.

In the end, however, Liverpool finally stepped up and would go on to put another three goals past the Yellow Submarine.

Who Salah wants in Champions League final

Liverpool will now face one of Manchester City and Real Madrid in Paris later this month.

It is Manchester City who have the advantage ahead of kick off at the Bernabeu, but with Karim Benzema on Los Blancos’ side, they are still no doubt confident of getting something from the tie.

But who would Liverpool rather face in the final? Well, Mohamed Salah, at least, is aiming for a rematch of the 2018 final with Real Madrid:

“I want to play Madrid, I have to be honest,” Salah told BT Sport.

“City’s a real tough team, we’ve played against them a few times this season.

“If you ask me personally, I would prefer Madrid. We lost in the final before against them, I want to play them and hopefully we’ll win.”
