Ghana international Emmanuel Boateng scored the winner as Rio Ave FC secured victory over 10-man Portimonense SC in the Portuguese Primeira Liga Monday night.
The 26-year-old forward scored the only goal of the game deep into first-half stoppage time by calmly slotting home after collecting a lofted pass from the centre of the pitch.
Earlier on at the half-hour mark, the visitors were reduced to 10 men following a bad tackle on Boateng by Moroccan right-back Fahd Moufi.
The hosts held on to record their third win at Estadio do Rio Ave in Vila do Conde this campaign.
Boateng lasted 70 minutes after taking his tally to three goals in six league outings since rejoining Rio Ave in the summer.
Meanwhile, strike partner and compatriot Abdul-Aziz Yakubu enjoyed full minutes.
Rivo Ave FC now climb to 12th in the league standings with as many points after 10 games.
