Ghana midfielder Salis Abdul Samed explains why he chose RC Lens over Olympique Marseille

Salis Abdul Samed has explained why he chose to sign for RC Lens instead of Olympique Marseille in the summer.

After three seasons in Clermont, the Ghanaian midfielder joined Lens for a reported €5 million despite being heavily courted by Ligue 1 giants Marseille.

A matter of progression according to the 22-year-old player, who is flourishing with the Blood and Gold.

“Going straight to Marseille wouldn’t have been good for me. It’s not that I wasn’t ready but I wanted to keep progressing the way I wanted. OM insisted but I told my agent that I wanted to progress in a certain way” he said in an interview with kickgh.

“For my career, it was better to come to Lens. Here, I have been progressing since my arrival, in my ability to break the lines, to play forward, to fix the opponent.”

Abdul Samed has scored once in nine French Ligue 1 games for Lens.
