Former President of the Ghana Football Association Dr. Nyaho Tamaklo has praised Andre Ayew and insists the captain should not be benched at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The former Ghana FA President believes Andre deserves to keep his place in the team.
There has been concerns about the consistency of the Al Sadd forward with many calling for him to be relegated to the bench in favour of young forwards in the squad.
“It is totally wrong to bench the captain of the Black Stars. Totally wrong,” Dr. Nyaho Tamaklo told Accra based Angel FM.
“Andre Ayew is a very good footballer and had done enough for the team.
“I think we rather have to encourage him and let him play a key role in Qatar for the team,” he added
Andre Dede Ayew is expected to lead the Black Stars at the tournament.
The championship is scheduled to kick-off on November 20 to December 19 2022.
Ghana are to lock horns with their group G Opponents, Portugal, South Korea Republic and Uruguay.
