Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has opened up on his relationship with Andre Ayew during his spell with the Black Stars.
The two attackers have shared the same dressing room for 13 years including two FIFA World Cups and six Africa Cup of Nations.
However, concerns have been raised about the relationship between the two amid the captaincy.
The issue lingered till some sort of credence was provided when coach Kwesi Appiah stripped of Gyan’s armband and handed it to Andre with few weeks to the 2019 AFCON.
In an interview with Wuntumi TV, Gyan labelled Andre as a “teammate” and not a “friend” during their playing days.
“Andrew Ayew is my teammates not my friend, we work together as teammates and make sure the job is done,” Asamoah Gyan told Kumasi based Wuntumi FM/TV.
“He calls me sometime when there is big boxing bout because he knows I understand the game but he is not my friend,” Gyan Said

The 37-year-old has featured for the Black Stars even after the captaincy controversy, having already scored 51 goals for Ghana, more than any other player.
