Former Ghana interim coach Otto Addo is keen on staying on as Black Stars coach ahead of the 2022 World Cup and also holding his position at Dortmund.

The former Ghana international is looking forward to combine both roles pending approval from his club Dortmund.

The 46-year-old qualified Ghana to the 2022 World Cup to be played in Qatar together with his assistants George Boateng and Didi Dramani with former Brighton boss Chris Hughton as technical advisor.

Otto Addo has received a lot of backing together with his technical team from the President Nana Akufo-Addo to continue as head coach for the World Cup.

Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo has tasked the Football Association to allow him continue as head coach and appoint a substantive coach after the World Cup.

Otto Addo whose contract expired after the World Cup playoff with the Ghana FA has indicated he is willing to continue the job as Black Stars coach but must first seek approval on combining both roles.

“I am meeting with my bosses [Dortmund] on Thursday to discuss the Black Stars job and the possibility of continuing with them. Sure [I am willing to do Black Stars job] but I have to discuss the contract,” the interim Black Stars coach said, as quoted by 3news.

He added: “I have a good relationship [with Dortmund] so I hope they will allow me to continue to coach the Black Stars. Hopefully [I will be able to work with Dortmund and Black Stars at the same time].”

The Chairman for the Black Stars management committee, Mark Addo has promised that the Ghana Football Association will assemble a competent technical team ahead of the 2022 World Cup to be staged in Qatar.

“I know we are all anticipating to know the Black Stars technical team for the World Cup but the FA will soon announce the technical team,” he told Asempa FM.

“Otto Addo and his technical team did a very good job but let us see what happens. The FA will name a competent technical team for the World Cup,” he added.

Ghana have been paired with Portugal, Uruguay and Korea Republic in the 2022 World Cup.

The Black Stars will also face Madgascar, Angola and Central Africa Republic in the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which kicks off in June.
