We were the better side against Asante Kotoko – RTU coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko

Real Tamale United head coach, Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko has said they were the better side against Asante Kotoko following their win.

After a difficult start of the second round of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League, the Pride of the Norths, exhibited a five-star display to humble league leaders in the matchday 25 games on Sunday.

RTU recorded a 2-1 win against Asante Kotoko at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.

Ronald Frimpong opened the scoring account from the spot before Victor Aidoo sealed the victory in the latter part of the game.

However, Cameroonian poacher, Frank Mbella pulled one back also from the spot.

In a post-match interview, the UDS lecturer explained the secret behind their win over the giants, having described themselves as the better side in the game.

“Kotoko are a good side by all standards and we were the better side,” he sasid.

“We clicked their wings, where they are supposed to operate so they couldn’t get any way to play there. That is the secret.

“Abagna’s comeback is going to be sustained and I believe he will help push the team to wherever we want to get to,” he added.

After back-to-back home wins, the ‘Wey Una’ outfit will play as a guest to Elmina Sharks next week in the matchday 26 games at the Ndoum Sports Complex.
