Former Ghana U20 midfielder Sabit Abdulai has joined Spanish Segunda Division side SD Ponferradina on a season-long loan from Getafe, GHANAsoccernet.com understands
The 23-year-old will spend the entire 2022-23 season at Ponferradina as he aims at getting more playing minutes.
Abdulai took his first steps in Spanish football in the ranks of Extremadura UD, which in 2018 incorporated him to play with its subsidiary team in the Third Division.
In the 19/20 season he had the opportunity to debut with his club in the Spanish second-tier where he featured in four games and scored one goal.
In the summer of 2020 he joined Getafe on loan to reinforce his subsidiary team in Segunda Division.
His good performance opened the doors for him to the first team, so in April 2021 he made his debut in Primera La Liga in a match against CA Osasuna.
Across that period he Abdulai played in the top category the matches against FC Barcelona and Granada CF, in addition to another Copa del Rey match.
With the Getafe B team in the Tercera Division RFEF, he played 15 games.
In July 2021, when he was preparing for the first team, he suffered a serious injury that prevented him from competing last season.
