‘It’s not my decision’ – Rangnick discusses Ronaldo’s future at Man United

Manchester United interim tactician Ralf Rangnick has said the next club manager will decide on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.

The Portuguese scored a stunning hat-trick to lead United to a 3-2 win over Norwich City, taking his Premier League tally to 15 goals.

Despite being United’s main man, there are reports that Erik Ten Hag, who is the favourite to take over at Old Trafford next season, does not want Ronaldo in his team.

Rangnick was unwilling to address the issue, insisting it was not in his hands to decide whether or not Ronaldo stays.

“It’s not my decision,” Rangnick told reporters. “Cristiano has another year of contract. It’s a decision for the new manager to take with the board.

“He showed today and against Tottenham, he can be the difference-maker in games like this and It’s no coincidence he has the best goal-scoring record of all players in history.”

Despite his success this season, Ronaldo has struggled to lead the side back into trophy contention and is reportedly disillusioned with life back in Manchester.

He has the option of extending by a year his current contract with United but could be allowed to leave if Ten Hag takes over next season.
