Defender Harrison Afful swaps shirts with Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling after pre-season friendly game

Ghana defender, Harrison Afful has exchanged jerseys with Chelsea forward, Raheem Sterling after his impressive performance in Charlotte FC’s win over the Premier League side in a pre-season friendly.

The former Columbus Crew right-back excelled as the Major League Soccer outfit beat Chelsea on penalties in a pre-season friendly in the United States.

The fullback was introduced in the second half of the game and largely held his own against Sterling as Charlotte FC kept a cleansheet in the second period and went on to defeat the two-UCL champions on penalties.

The ex-Black Stars defender was full of energy as he helped keep Chelsea’s elite players at bay.

American winger Christian Pulisic broke the game’s deadlock after the hour mark but Daniel Rios’ last minute strike forced the game into penalties.

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher missed from the spot as the MLS side won the game.

Harrison Afful joined Charlotte FC after leaving for Major League Champions Columbus Crew.
