The Argentinian top flight season is now well under way and this weekend the Liga Profesional fixtures come thick and fast and features this Saturday’s upcoming clash between hosts, Independiente and their visitors, Rosario Central, who are both level-pegging on seven points apiece.
22nd placed Independiente have made a slow start to this season’s domestic top flight campaign having picked up just two wins from their opening seven games of this new Liga Profesional term.

They came in the form of wins against Talleres de Cordoba and Estudiantes in 1-0 and 2-1 victories respectively, both of which were on home soil at their Estadio Libertadores de América.
However, although Independiente have also been handed four defeats as well so far this season, three of these losses were incurred on their travels with defeats on the road at Argentinos Jrs, Patronato and Racing Club.
Switch to results at home though and you’ll find a stubborn Independiente outfit who have tasted defeat just twice in their last 16 matches in their own backyard, while also keeping six clean sheets in the process.
Rosario Central sit level on seven points with their hosts, Independiente, prior to this Saturday’s clash at the Estadio Libertadores de América.
But although they have also suffered just the one defeat at home so far this season, results on the road have been in stark contrast.
The bigger picture shows Rosario Central have achieved just four wins out of their last 16 matches overall in the Argentinian top flight, which came in the shape of victories over Independiente, Estudiantes, Godoy Cruz and Sarmiento.
But it is worth noting that all four of these victories were registered on home soil at their Estadio Gigante de Arroyito.
Conversely, the visitors have really struggled away from home in the Liga Profesional of late as they have suffered seven defeats on the trot on their travels, conceding 2 goals or more in six of these seven games while also failing to score in four of them as well.
With just two wins to show for their troubles in their last 17 outings on the road and losing 11 of these games, Rosario Central look to have their work cut out if they are to even pick up a point against a strong home outfit in the shape of Independiente this Saturday.
