Man City send apology to Liverpool over fan behaviour at Wembley

Manchester City have issued a public apology to rivals Liverpool, owing to the behaviour of a small section of the club’s fanbase at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

The Sky Blues and Reds are of course currently locked in action for the 2nd time in the space of a week, on this occasion in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Ahead of kick-off in the English capital, though, it was ongoings in the stands which took centre stage in the headlines.

This came as a contingent of City supporters in attendance at the clash opted to chant and sing amid a minute’s silence dedicated to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster:

As alluded to above, though, the Sky Blues, as a club, have since moved to not only make their disillusionment with the collection of fans in question clear, but also issue a public apology to all associated with Liverpool:

Mane at the double

Turning attentions back towards the action itself at Wembley, it is of course Liverpool who are currently in position to book a spot in the FA Cup’s showpiece, in the process keeping hopes of an unprecedented quadruple alive.

This comes owing to a blitzing first-half display, during which Ibrahima Konate’s early opener was added to by a double on the part of Sadio Mane, guiding Jurgen Klopp’s troops into a 3-1 lead inside the game’s closing ten minutes.
