Barcelona confirm pre-season injury concern

Spanish giants FC Barcelona have, on Monday, provided an insight into an early fitness concern to have come to the fore amid the club’s preparations for the new campaign.

Xavi Hernandez’s squad, in line with clubs across the continent, have reconvened over the course of the last week, bringing to an end what proved a short-lived summer holiday period.

This comes with the new La Liga season now just over a month from kicking into gear.

The Blaugrana, for their part, will play out the club’s first official pre-season outing this coming Wednesday, taking on Spanish minnows UE Olot at the Camp Municipal d’Olot.

One member of the club’s first-team setup, however, who looks altogether unlikely to feature, comes in the form of Ferran Torres.

Spanish international Torres of course made the move to the Camp Nou this past January from Manchester City, enjoying a fruitful 2nd half to the campaign en route to an eventual haul of seven goals and six assists.

Torres’ preparations for the 2022/23 season, though, have today been set back, owing to a fitness issue.

In a statement across the club’s social media platforms on Monday evening, Barcelona confirmed that their versatile attacker has picked up a ‘right foot wound’, with his recovery, in turn, set to ‘determine his availability for upcoming training sessions’.
