Newcastle United will battle Arsenal for the services of Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta in the summer.
Paris Saint-Germain was keen to sign the 24-year-old attacking midfielder but the interest has since died as they have other targets ahead of the new season.
The Chronicle Live reports that Newcastle has an upper hand in the interest as the player is a good friend of Bruno Guimaraes whom they signed in January after wading off a challenge from Arsenal who was interested in the player.
#NUFC could be looking to trump Arsenal for a second time this year if they push on to sign Bruno Guimaraes’ big pal Lucas Paqueta.
A fee of £58m may be required to reunite the Brazilian internationals – a bargain!

It is understood that there is a £58million asking price for Paqueta while wages could come in at £180,000 per week something the Magpies feel they can afford following the arrival of new owners.
Gunners chief Edu is said to be an admirer of Paqueta and is prepared to make a move for his countryman this summer as they seek to boot their midfield that has looked short each time they have been faced by an injury.
