Ghana international, Emmanuel Gyasi scored his 5th goal of the season to deliver a late victory for Spezia Calcio against Venezia in the Italian Serie A on Saturday.
The 28-year-old forward pounced on a double Venezia defensive error deep into stoppages and this win could be decisive for Spezia’s topflight safety.
This was a relegation tussle, although the hosts had broken seven points clear of the drop zone, even though Venezia had a game in hand.
It seemed to be a stalemate, until deep into stoppages a pair of Venezia howlers gifted the victory to Spezia.
A long ball was punted into the box, Mattia Caldara cleared it straight at Manaj, who forced a save out of Maenpaa, but again Gyasi was quicker to react than his marker and fired in the rebound from six yards.
The goal sparked wild celebrations from Spezia and especially coach Thiago Motta, as it could be a decisive step towards Serie A safety.
