Aduana Stars goalkeeper Stephen Adams has explained injury forced him out of the Fire Club’s starting line-up to face Hearts of Oak in G-6 tournament on Thursday evening.
The former Black Stars third-choice custodian was elected to start in post ahead of the Joe Addo but could not return after to start the game for the Dormaa-based club as his placed was taken by second-choice Stephen Adams.
Adams, 27, has explained he suffered an injury during the pre-match warm-up training, forcing head coach Kwabena Ameyaw to replace him.
“I picked a knock during the warm which kept me out of the game. I was hoping to start the game and play,” he told Accra-based Happy FM.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup Ghana goalkeeper rejected claims that he faked his injury just not to face Hearts of Oak.
“I’ve played against Hearts several times and I’m not scared of them. I missed the game because of the injury and not for any other reason,” he added.
