Manager Remi Garde remains in awe with the clinical technique of Jordan Ayew in dispatching the penalty which earned Aston Villa a vital draw against West Ham on Saturday.

The Ghana striker scored for the second successive week with a converted penalty to draw Aston Villa level after 62 minutes.

Villa had gone behind in the dying embers of the first half and had to fight to redeem a point from a losing position before their home fans.

Jordan Ayew who has a proven record of his efficiency from the spot made no mistakes in sending goalkeeper Adrian the other way to slot home.

The composed technique displayed by Ayew in a high-pressure situation of taking an important penalty kick had drawn the praise of manager Remi Garde.

“It was a very calm technique for the goal – all the qualities you need in this kind of situation,” he said.

“He has been brilliant working hard for the team.

“He was helped by Rudy Gestede’s work, which was very good.”

Jordan Ayew has now taken his league tally to five goals having recovered from a difficult start to life in the Premier league.
