Crocked Ghana defender Daniel Opare was not named in Augsburg’s squad for their debut Europa League campaign.
The versatile wing-back was signed this summer to replace compatriot Baba Rahman but faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a training ground injury.
Augsburg are unsure when Opare will be returning to the field.
The Bundesliga side qualified directly into the Group stage after finishing fifth last season and are in a pool comprising AZ Alkmaar, Partizan Belgrade and Spanish side Athletic Bilbao.
