Ibrahima Konate earned praise from supporters of both Real Madrid and Valencia after his conduct during a heated incident at half-time in Real Madrid’s 3-0 La Liga victory at Mestalla.
According to journalist Rodra, as reported by Tribuna, the French defender stepped in during the confrontation and impressed observers from both clubs with his behaviour in a tense situation.
The dispute began after Valencia officials protested against the free-kick awarded against Pablo Maffeo. The set-piece led to Federico Valverde scoring Real Madrid’s opening goal.
Valencia sporting director Braulio Vazquez confronted match officials before several Real Madrid players became involved. Jude Bellingham, Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao were among those who intervened as the disagreement escalated.
Security staff eventually had to step in. There were also claims that Rudiger assaulted one of the security guards during the incident, although the referee’s official report did not record the altercations involving the players.
Konate’s intervention was viewed positively by supporters of both teams, adding to the favourable impression he has made since arriving at Real Madrid.
The defender joined Real Madrid from Liverpool after his contract expired at the end of last season and quickly established himself as a regular under manager Jose Mourinho.
He has formed an impressive defensive partnership with Dean Huijsen, leaving the more experienced Rudiger and Militao outside the starting line-up.
Real Madrid completed a convincing victory at Mestalla with a 3-0 scoreline, but the match was also marked by the flashpoint between the two teams at the interval.
The fixture listings accompanying the report include Tavernes de la Valldigna in the Copa del Rey on 10 November 2026, followed by Valencia against Real Madrid in La Liga on 21 November 2026. Celta Vigo is also listed in the same fixture information.
