Enzo Alves, the son of Real Madrid legend Marcelo, is an injury doubt for the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar after being forced off during a youth match.
According to AS, the Real Madrid player was unable to finish his side’s match against Rayo Vallecano after suffering a painful injury during a challenge in the first half. His participation in next month’s tournament is now uncertain.
Alves felt discomfort in the middle of the opening period and could not continue. Initial reports suggest he may have suffered a tear to the psoas muscle, although no definitive diagnosis has yet been made.
The teenager is due to undergo medical tests between today and tomorrow, with the examinations expected to establish the full extent of the injury and provide a clearer indication of his recovery time.
Any absence would be a significant setback for Spain Under-17 manager David Cubillo, who has called up Spain’s Under-21 players to Las Rozas as preparations begin for the World Cup.
Spain will compete in the group stage in Qatar, beginning their campaign against China on 20 November. Their second match will be against Fiji on 23 November, before they face Morocco in their final group fixture.
The 26 November 2026 tournament is therefore approaching an important stage for the Spanish squad, with Alves’ condition set to play a key role in determining whether he can be included.
The player’s medical assessment over the coming hours will decide whether he remains available for Spain or misses the competition altogether. His place at the Under-17 World Cup is now under threat because of the injury suffered against Rayo Vallecano.
