Ghanaian midfielder David Abagna scored as FC Ordabasy secured the 2026 Kazakhstan Cup with a 4-1 victory over FC Kaysar in Saturday’s final at the Turkestan Arena.
The Shymkent-based club took control early and opened the scoring after seven minutes. Sultanbek Astanov completed a well-worked attacking move to give Ordabasy the lead.
FC Kaysar struggled to contain their opponents, who continued to create pressure as the first half progressed. Ordabasy doubled their advantage in the 41st minute when Norwegian striker Bjørn Johnsen found the net, sending his side into the interval with a 2-0 lead.
Abagna then added Ordabasy’s third goal 15 minutes into the second half. The midfielder finished from close range after being set up by Johnsen, effectively putting the final beyond FC Kaysar’s reach.
The strike was Abagna’s first of the Kazakhstan Cup campaign. It also capped another influential performance from the Ghanaian, who played an important role in the midfield as Ordabasy maintained their control of the contest.
Ordabasy extended their advantage in the 71st minute when Elkhan Astanov scored their fourth goal. The goal completed a dominant team performance and left FC Kaysar facing a substantial deficit with less than 20 minutes remaining.
Agostinho pulled one goal back for FC Kaysar in the 84th minute, but the late consolation did little to alter the outcome. Ordabasy managed the closing stages to complete a convincing victory and lift the trophy.
The result represents a memorable achievement for Abagna, who has established himself as an important member of the Ordabasy squad since joining the club. His goal in the final took his total to one goal in four Kazakhstan Cup appearances this season.
The trophy gives Ordabasy a strong finish to their domestic campaign, while Abagna continues to build his reputation as one of Ghana’s standout midfielders playing abroad.
