The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has visited Koforidua City FC after an accident involving members of the club’s travelling team in the Eastern Region.
Malcolm Frazier Appeadu, Director of the GFA Foundation, and Linford Asamoah Boadu, Chairman of the Eastern Regional Football Association (RFA), met the club’s players and officials at their clubhouse in Koforidua.
The delegation’s visit was intended to show solidarity with the club, assess the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish the support required by the team.
Koforidua City FC were travelling to Tutu-Akuapem for a Division Two League match against Shacor Super Stars when the accident occurred at Saforo, near Adawso, in the Eastern Region.
The travelling party consisted of 19 players and three officials. Eleven players suffered injuries of varying degrees and were treated at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital in Akuapem-Mampong before being discharged.
During the visit, the GFA delegation conveyed the concern and support of the association’s leadership to the club, the injured players and other members of the squad affected by the incident.
The delegation also offered encouragement to the team and wished the injured players a speedy and complete recovery.
Mr Appeadu reaffirmed the GFA Foundation’s commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of people involved in football. He stressed the importance of providing assistance to clubs and players when they face difficult circumstances.
Mr Boadu also expressed the Eastern Regional Football Association’s concern over the accident and assured Koforidua City FC that the association would support the club during the challenging period.
The club’s Team Manager, Victoria Nkansah Boadu, told the delegation that the affected players were continuing to receive medical care. She said physiotherapy services were also being provided, particularly for those who sustained injuries.
The visit reflects the GFA Foundation’s stated aim of supporting measures that improve the wellbeing and livelihoods of people within the football community.
In October 2025, the GFA Foundation provided support to Na God FC after a similar road accident at Aboasa. That incident occurred as the team returned from Ho following a Division One League fixture against Home Stars.
