New Asante Kotoko signing Emmanuel Sanja says joining the Porcupine Warriors feels like “returning home after a long holiday” after completing his move from Vision FC.
The 18-year-old right-back signed a three-year contract with the Ghana Premier League club on Tuesday, following a successful medical examination.
Sanja’s move marks the next stage of his development after an impressive season with Vision FC, where he established himself as one of the division’s promising young defenders.
He made 25 appearances for Vision FC last season, scoring three goals and contributing two assists. His performances also earned him five MVP awards and a call-up to Ghana’s Under-23 team, the Black Meteors.
The transfer to Asante Kotoko is significant for Sanja beyond its importance to his football career. He grew up in the surroundings of the Kumasi-based club and completed his senior high education there, meaning his arrival is being viewed by the teenager as a return to a familiar environment.
“It was not a difficult decision to join Kotoko as it is where I am from and where I completed my senior high education. It felt like returning home after a long holiday,”Sanja said.
The young defender said his family’s support for Asante Kotoko had also added to the importance of the move. He described the club as an appealing destination for young footballers seeking to build their careers.
“Kotoko is always an attractive club for most young players and I am prepared to play my best football for the club that my family supports,”he added.
Sanja joins Asante Kotoko with valuable top-flight experience despite his age. His performances for Vision FC last season, including his goals, assists and five MVP awards, helped earn him recognition at national level before his move to the Porcupine Warriors.
He will now face a fresh challenge at his new club, where he will compete for a place in the team. His three-year agreement gives him the opportunity to continue his development while adapting to the demands of playing for Asante Kotoko.
For Sanja, however, the move represents more than a conventional transfer. His connection with the club, his educational background in its surroundings and his family’s allegiance have made the switch especially meaningful.
After completing his medical and signing the contract, the right-back begins the next phase of his career with a club he already regards as home.
