Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan fighting Ronaldo, Neymar for world’s best scorer award

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is in a tough fight with Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, the Barcelona prodigy, for the World Top Goal Scorer award for this year by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

The Al Ain captain is tied as second position with the Brazilian superstar Neymar on 18 goals following the release of November’s ranking as they are just one goal behind Ronaldo.

With a very hard fight for goals in December, Gyan can surpass his two competitors to become the first Ghanaian to clinch the global prestigious title which Ronaldo won last year.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal for Portugal in Euro 2016 qualifiers and another for Real Madrid CF in UEFA Champions League to surpass Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan and stay alone in first place with 19 goals.

Neymar scored a brace for Brazil against Turkey and came second with 18 level with Asamoah Gyan. Lionel Messi scored a goal for Argentina and a brace and a hat-trick for FC Barcelona and jumped from eighth place to forth.

Neymar is the highest National Team goal scorer with 15 followed by Müller and Valencia with 10 goals each. Ronaldo is the highest in club competitions with 14, followed by Gyan 12, Belencoso and Adriano 11, and Al-Shamrani 10.

50 players scored 7 or more goals. By nationality, they are 21 Europeans, 12 South Americans, 9 Asians, 7 Africans and 1 from CONCACAF. By club football, 30 play in Europe, 12 in Asia, 5 in Africa and 3 in CONCACAF.
