Scotland fans call for Steve Clarke’s head on back of Ireland defeat

Supporters of the Scottish national team have flooded to social media on Saturday, to make their feelings surrounding the position of boss Steve Clarke crystal clear.

The Tartan Army were back in action a short time ago.

After bouncing back from heartbreak in the nation’s World Cup qualifying playoff showdown with Ukraine courtesy of a 2-0 downing of Armenia, Clarke and co. made the trip to Dublin, eyeing a 2nd successive Nations League triumph.

When all was said and done, however, to say that such efforts on the part of the evening’s visitors came up short would be putting it lightly.

Instead, a rampant display on the part of an Irish outfit who had scraped together a paltry two goals across 12 prior Nations League outings ultimately culminated in Scotland being put to the sword by three goals to nil.

Alan Browne was first on target for the hosts, before Troy Parrott’s finish just inside the half-hour mark was added to in stunning fashion by Michael Obafemi early in the 2nd-half, rounding out the scoring at the Aviva Stadium.

‘Has to go’

On the back of an equally alarming display and result on the part of their side, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the Scotland faithful being absolutely up in arms on Saturday.

Taking to Twitter in their droves to respond to Ireland’s 3rd goal of the evening, fans of the visitors took aim at one man and one man only, calling for the immediate dismissal of manager Steve Clarke:
