Ibrahim Tanko urges Medeama to respond against Attram De Visser in FA Cup quarter-final

Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed belief in his team’s ability to progress in the MTN FA Cup despite facing a difficult challenge from Attram De Visser Academy in the quarter-finals.

The match will be played at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, March 15, with both sides aiming to book a place in the semi-finals of the prestigious domestic tournament.

Attram De Visser Academy have become one of the surprise stories of this year’s competition.

The academy team, which is owned by former Ghana international Godwin Attram, has eliminated some notable clubs on their journey to the last eight.

Among their biggest achievements in the tournament so far was knocking out reigning Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars.

They also defeated Eleven Wonders in the previous round, results that have earned them the reputation of giant killers in the competition.

Despite the impressive run by their opponents, Tanko remains confident that Medeama can deliver a performance capable of securing qualification to the next stage.

“No, I think if a supporter comes to the stadium, he’s looking at his team to win so that he will go home very happy. We the technical team and the players are the same, we want to win the game,” he told Medi TV.

The Medeama coach acknowledged that his team recently experienced a disappointing performance but stressed that it should not overshadow the positive moments they have delivered for supporters this season.

“Like I said, we had a very bad day looking at how the game went.

“But this team has also given the supporters a lot of happiness. I don’t think this is the time they have to abandon the team.”

Tanko indicated that the team’s attention has now shifted toward correcting their mistakes and preparing properly for the FA Cup challenge ahead.

“We still have nine games to play and the next is the MTN FA Cup. So we are preparing for that and hope that we’ll go to the next one,” he added.

The quarter-final clash is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 pm and is expected to be a fiercely contested encounter as Medeama attempt to avoid becoming the latest casualty in Attram De Visser Academy’s remarkable FA Cup campaign.
