Abdul Fatawu Issahaku continued his impressive run of performances after scoring in Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Bristol City in the EFL Championship on Tuesday night.
The Ghana winger delivered another strong display at the King Power Stadium, helping Leicester secure a valuable victory as the team battles to move away from the relegation zone.
Issahaku, who started the match alongside fellow Ghana international Jordan Ayew, played a key role in Leicester’s attacking setup during their Round 37 encounter.
His goal came after a well-worked move by the home side, reflecting the team’s patient buildup before the decisive finish.
Leicester City manager Gary Rowett praised the quality of the move and Issahaku’s finishing after the match.
“I think we made like similar 18 passes in the buildup. Abdul [Fatawu Issahaku] ends up with a volley with his right foot.
“It’s a thunderbolt; getting in the right position on the back post but it’s good up play first, it’s nice composed play,” Gary Rowett said after the win to Leicester City media.
The victory proved crucial for Leicester City as it lifted them to 21st place on the Championship table with 38 points from 37 matches. The Foxes are above the relegation zone on goal difference as they head into the final stretch of the campaign with nine games remaining.
Issahaku’s goal further underlines his importance to the team this season.
The 22-year-old winger has now scored nine goals in the Championship and provided seven assists, making him one of Leicester City’s most productive attacking players during the 2025/26 campaign.
His performances have been particularly significant for the club as they look to collect enough points to secure their place in the league.
Before moving to Europe, Issahaku developed his football career in Ghana, where he featured for Steadfast FC before later joining Dreams FC.
His impressive displays in the domestic league eventually earned him the opportunity to play abroad.
Since arriving in England, the winger has continued to grow in confidence and influence. His speed, direct style of play and ability to contribute goals have made him an important player for Leicester City.
With nine matches left before the end of the Championship season, Leicester City will be hoping Issahaku maintains his strong form as they seek to distance themselves further from the relegation fight.
