EXCLUSIVE: Eric Bekoe leaves Samartex for AshantiGold

Ghana Premier League

Eric Bekoe has resigned from Samartex and is set to join AshantiGold 04 FC, sources have told kickoffghana.com.

Bekoe, a former Asante Kotoko striker, was suspended by Samartex in February 2026 for insubordination and breach of club ethics, receiving a two-week suspension and a one-month salary fine.

Prior to his suspension, Bekoe had been appointed as the youth team head coach and senior side strikers’ coach at Samartex in October 2025.

His departure comes after a tumultuous period with the club, and he is now expected to take up a new role at AshantiGold 04 FC.

AshantiGold, who were relegated to Division Two, are looking to rebuild and Bekoe’s experience could be valuable.

Bekoe’s move to AshantiGold was previously hinted at, with reports emerging in September 2025 linking him to the Obuasi-based side.

Zito has already been appointed by AshantiGold 04, with Bekoe lines up next by the club.
