Regragui Resigns as Morocco Coach Ahead of World Cup

Walid Regragui has reportedly stepped down as Morocco’s head coach, just three months before the 2026 World Cup.

The decision comes after Morocco’s disappointing loss to Senegal in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

Regragui, who led Morocco to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, had been under pressure following the AFCON defeat.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) had initially denied reports of Regragui’s resignation, but it seems the coach has decided to part ways with the national team.

Xavi Hernandez, the former Barcelona manager, is being considered as a potential replacement, but he may be hesitant to take on the role with the World Cup looming.

Morocco, who are set to face Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti in Group C, will need to find a new coach quickly to lead them into the tournament.
