Two Ghanaian tacticians, Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum and Joe Nana Adarkwa, are currently in Abidjan for a WAFU Zone B coaching programme focused on U17 football.

The three-day seminar, scheduled from February 8 to 10, has assembled 14 youth coaches from across the sub-region.

The initiative is designed to deepen understanding of modern football concepts and the direction the game is taking at youth level.

Oversight for the programme is being provided by WAFU-B President Ibrahim Gusau, supported by Executive Director Philippe Kyere.

Their involvement highlights the regional body’s push to strengthen technical standards through education.

Ghana’s delegation includes the Black Starlets head coach and the Black Maidens trainer, ensuring balanced male and female representation.

Their presence underlines Ghana’s strategy of investing in knowledge transfer to improve youth national teams.

Sessions are being led by seasoned instructors Raymond Tchaye from Benin and Adama Guira of Burkina Faso.

FIFA technical supervisor Sanon Firmin is also monitoring proceedings to ensure global best practices are upheld.
Discussions so far have centred on tactical evolution and how emerging trends can be adapted for U17 development.
