Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC played out a 0-0 draw at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday afternoon, as both sides failed to convert the chances they created in a keenly contested Ghana Premier League encounter.

The match unfolded in two contrasting halves, with Hearts enjoying the better of the opening exchanges before Dreams FC finished strongly after the break.

Hearts dominated the early stages, controlling possession and dictating the tempo, with much of their attacking play channelled down the right flank.

The Phobians’ clearest opportunity of the first half arrived in the 10th minute when Hussein Mohammed broke free from a Dreams corner and went one-on-one with goalkeeper Rahman Osman, who stood firm to make a crucial save.

Set pieces provided limited threat for both sides in the opening half, as Dreams remained compact and disciplined defensively. Hearts managed a shot on target from a dead-ball situation, but Osman dealt with it comfortably. Dreams came close just before the interval, but Abdul Razak Salifu failed to apply a clean finish to a dangerous cut-back.

Dreams returned from the break with renewed intent and began to ask serious questions of the Hearts defence. John Antwi slipped a neat through pass to Salifu early in the second half, but Benjamin Asare reacted sharply to block the effort. Salifu later found the net, only for his goal to be ruled out for offside.

Asare continued to shine for the hosts, producing back-to-back saves to deny Antwi and Christian Owusu as Dreams pressed for a winner. Hearts nearly snatched victory late on from a corner, but Osman again came to the visitors’ rescue with another fine save.

Asare was deservedly named Man of the Match after a composed and commanding performance in goal.

The draw leaves Hearts of Oak on 32 points, while Dreams FC move up to eighth on the table with 24 points, level with Heart of Lions.
