Heart of Lions booked their place in the Round of 16 of the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup after a 2-0 victory over Na God FC on Wednesday, easing past the lower-division side despite their ongoing struggles in the Ghana Premier League.
Playing at the Kpando Sports Stadium, the Premier League outfit made a fast start and broke the deadlock in the 13th minute through Ismail Abambila, who finished confidently to give the hosts an early advantage.
Na God FC responded positively after conceding, pushing forward with intent and enjoying spells of attacking pressure as they searched for an equaliser. However, Heart of Lions gradually regained control and went into the break holding their slender lead.
The hosts doubled their advantage shortly after the restart, with Moses Ayidem capping off an impressive team move in the 56th minute to put the contest beyond reach.
Na God FC battled to the final whistle but were unable to overturn the deficit, exiting the competition after a spirited display.
The win sends Heart of Lions into the Round of 16 and provides a timely morale boost ahead of Matchday 18 of the Ghana Premier League. Winless in their last five league games, the Kpando-based side will be hoping to build momentum when they face Dreams FC on Sunday, January 11.
