Vision FC edged Nations FC 1-0 on Saturday to climb out of the relegation zone, ending a seven-match winless run in a tense Ghana Premier League encounter at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.
The decisive moment arrived at the death of the first half when teenage midfielder Setsofia Aqetey announced himself in spectacular fashion, calmly finishing to score his first goal for the club and give the hosts a priceless lead.
That strike proved enough for the Tema-based side, who showed grit and organisation after the break as Nations FC piled on pressure in search of an equaliser. Nana Kweku Agyemang’s men were largely pinned back following the interval but defended with discipline and resolve.
Nations FC came closest in the 60th minute, forcing goalkeeper Kwame Aziz into a sharp intervention, while Vision were forced to repel several half-chances during a nervy spell. Despite the pressure, the hosts held firm to secure a narrow but vital victory.
The win moves Vision FC up to 12th in the standings with 18 points, just one behind their opponents, and provides a timely boost ahead of a daunting trip to high-flying Aduana Stars.
For Nations FC, frustration on the road continues. Frimpong Manso’s side remain without an away win this season and sit 10th on the table, with an opportunity to respond when they host Karela United in their next outing.
