Israeli Premier League giants Maccabi Tel Aviv have expressed strong interest in signing Asante Kotoko skipper Samba O’Neil ahead of the January transfer window, according to Kumasi-based Wontumi FM.
The Congolese defender, who is in the final year of his contract, has attracted attention following his impressive performances since joining the Porcupine Warriors in 2024 from Burkina Faso side Rahimo FC.
Maccabi Tel Aviv are understood to have tabled a $150,000 offer as they look to bolster their squad with the in-demand centre-back. Kotoko, however, are yet to take a final decision on the future of their captain.
UAE-based side Dubai City are also reportedly monitoring the situation and could make a move when the window opens.
Samba has made 13 appearances in the Ghana Premier League this season, scoring twice. In the CAF Confederation Cup, he featured four times and found the net once as Kotoko exited at the second preliminary round.
Overall, the 25-year-old has made 47 appearances for Kotoko across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist since his arrival.
