The Black Galaxies are headed back to Ghana after a 1-0 loss to South Africa in an international friendly match at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

The team, led by coach Kassim Mingle Ocansey, had arrived in South Africa on Sunday, December 14, 2025, to prepare for the friendly, which served as a crucial test ahead of their upcoming CHAN qualification campaign.

Despite the loss, Ocansey praised his team’s resilience after the game saying, “This game is an opportunity for the Black Galaxies to prove that they are a very good side.”

The Black Galaxies will now focus on regrouping and preparing for their next assignment.

The friendly match was part of South Africa’s build-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off on December 21 in Morocco.

The Black Galaxies’ next match is expected to be part of the CHAN qualifiers .
