Ghana Football Association President and CAF 2nd Vice-President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has held strategic talks with Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The working visit formed part of early coordination efforts ahead of the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Discussions covered Ghana’s group allocation and the operational demands expected to arise before and during the competition.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L from Pot 4, where they will face Panama, England and Croatia.
Kurt noted that Ghana’s group fixtures are scheduled across multiple cities, including Boston, Philadelphia and Toronto, a situation that requires careful logistical planning.
He stressed that early collaboration is vital to ensure smooth travel, accommodation and matchday arrangements for the team and officials.
The GFA President also highlighted the importance of working closely with Ghana’s diplomatic missions to project the country positively on the global stage.
According to him, the World Cup offers a unique opportunity to promote Ghana beyond football.
The FA is also considering the establishment of talent identification camps during the tournament period to scout young Ghanaian prospects.
