The government has formed an 11-member inter-ministerial committee to coordinate Ghana’s preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
President John Mahama inaugurated the body, which draws representatives from key ministries, national security, and the football fraternity.
Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Xoese Dogbe and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa are members of the committee.
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, will sit on the committee alongside Youth Development Minister George Opare, Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Yusif Jajah, and Deputy Finance Minister Ampem Nyarkoh.
GFA President Kurt Okraku has also been appointed to the body, placing the federation at the heart of the planning process for the tournament.
Other members include Deputy National Security Coordinator Elizabeth Yankah, former national team legend Abedi Pele, and Sports Ministry Chief Director Wilhelmina Asamoah.
An additional representative from the private sector will later be named to complete the 11-member team.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kofi Adams explained that Cabinet recently approved the formation of the committee to streamline all preparatory activities for the World Cup.
“It is necessary to ensure proper coordination between the technical and all other individual components so that we do not work in silos.”
The government has already earmarked GH₵150 million to support Ghana’s World Cup project, signalling an early commitment to the campaign’s logistics and competitive targets.
