The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed it is fully funding midfielder Francis Abu’s surgery after he sustained a broken ankle during last Friday’s Kirin Cup clash in Nagoya.
Abu, who plays for Toulouse FC, was stretchered off in severe pain and taken to Toyota Memorial Hospital, where the procedure was successfully completed.
Communications Director Henry Asante Twum told Asempa FM that the GFA is handling all medical expenses and coordinating with the club on next steps.
“GFA will bear the cost of Francis Abu’s surgery. The medical bills associated with the surgery have been taken care of by the GFA,” he said.
The GFA is also facilitating Abu’s return to Toulouse while remaining available for additional support if needed.
The Japanese FA has also assisted in managing the situation and ensuring Abu receives proper care.
