Eleven Wonders’ tough return to the Ghana Premier League continued on Sunday as they slipped to a 2–1 defeat against Medeama at the UG Sports Stadium in Legon, despite delivering one of their most competitive performances of the campaign.
The relegation-threatened side started brightly and piled early pressure on Medeama, eventually earning a first-half penalty that could have tilted the contest in their favour. But goalkeeper Felix Kyei, one of the league’s most reliable shot-stoppers this season, pulled off a brilliant save to deny them.
Medeama punished the miss on the stroke of halftime when Godknows Dzakpasu finished off a flowing move to give the visitors the lead.
Wonders responded well after the break and grabbed a deserved equaliser through Daniel Lomotey Agbloe, whose sharp finish momentarily reignited belief in the home stands.
Their momentum, however, faded late on, and substitute Nana Kofi Babil restored Medeama’s advantage in the 79th minute with a composed strike his second goal contribution in three matches.
Match statistics underscored how tight the encounter was: Wonders attempted eight shots to Medeama’s six and registered four on target—double their opponent’s tally. Possession was evenly split, reflecting the balance of play.
Despite the improved performance, Eleven Wonders remain bottom of the Premier League table with only one win since returning to the top flight. Medeama, meanwhile, climb to the summit after another efficient, composed outing under Ibrahim Tanko.
