Spanish club Real Oviedo are reportedly working to secure the long-term future of Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo after his impressive role in their promotion to La Liga.

Sibo, who joined Oviedo from Amorebieta last season, remains under contract until June 2026. However, the club wants to extend his deal by an extra year to ward off growing interest from other clubs.

Sources indicate Oviedo are reluctant to depend on an automatic renewal clause that activates after 25 appearances, given that Sibo has featured in only five matches this season.

Negotiations, however, have stalled as Sibo’s representatives push for improved terms. They argue that the 26-year-old’s rising profile especially following his debut for Ghana against Mali deserves a better package.

With the 2026 World Cup approaching and Ghana tipped to qualify, Oviedo are wary that Sibo’s market value could soar if he performs well on the global stage. Still, the club remains optimistic about keeping the midfielder at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium for the long term.
