Ghana is preparing to compete in the CAF African Schools Football Championship WAFU-B qualifiers in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions, set to take place from November 29 to December 4, 2025, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

The regional showdown will feature some of West Africa’s strongest footballing nations, including Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, Niger, and hosts Burkina Faso.

Organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the championship brings together the best young football talents from schools across the region, with the winners earning qualification to the continental finals.

This year marks the fourth edition of the competition, following successful tournaments in Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, and Niger. Ghana enters the qualifiers as defending WAFU-B champions, having excelled in last year’s event. The girls’ team went on to win the continental title at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, while the boys’ side finished third.

With preparations already underway, expectations are high that Ghana’s young stars will once again showcase their class and secure spots at the continental phase.

The CAF African Schools Football Championship forms part of CAF’s broader effort to grow grassroots football and nurture the next generation of African footballers.
