Greater Accra’s U19 team maintained their blistering start to the MTN Elite U19 Championship with another commanding display, securing a 2–1 win over Central Region at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Saturday morning.
Greater Accra showed their attacking intent early on, dominating possession and pressing high up the pitch.
Their efforts paid off when Emmanuel Lomotey coolly slotted home in the 23rd minute after a swift build-up.
Just before halftime, Yussif Saani, later adjudged Player of the Match, doubled the lead with a spectacular long-range strike that left the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
Central Region attempted a late comeback and managed to pull one of the most back in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to deny the Accra boys their second straight win of the tournament.
The victory cements Greater Accra’s position at the top of Group B, boasting six points from two games with six goals scored and just one conceded.
Elsewhere, Brong Ahafo were set to open their campaign against Northern Region later in the day at the FIFA Pitch, with both sides looking to announce themselves in the competition.
