It’s the most important goal in my career at the moment – Arsenal ace Partey on Nigeria goal

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has picked his goal against Nigeria in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final play-offs as the most important of his ongoing footballing career.

Partey gave the Black Stars a shock lead against the run of play in the 10th minute, before William Trost-Ekong levelled from the penalty spot 12 minutes later as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

“I’ll say it’s the most important goal in my career at the moment. It’s a goal that took us to the World Cup so I feel happy, the whole team feels happy and the country is happy, so it’s a joy to be the one to score that goal. I feel blessed and I feel happy,” the 28-year-old told Joy Sports.

Partey was named in coach Otto Addo’s squad for the 2023 for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the Kirin Cup tournament in Japan due to injury.

He recently was honoured in his home town as the ‘Mahefalor’ means Defender of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
