The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the officiating team for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier between Egypt and Ghana, which will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2025.
The first-leg clash, set for the Ismailia-Suez Canal Stadium, will be handled by South African referee Akhona Zennith Makalima, one of the continent’s most experienced female referees.
She will have her compatriot Nandipha Menze as the first assistant referee, while Mphtaso Mphtaso Mamete from Malawi will serve as the second assistant.
Another Malawian, Eness M. Gumbo, has been appointed as the fourth official for the encounter.
CAF has also named Teresa Ouko Calleb from Kenya as the match commissioner, with Alice Damaris Wangari Kimani, also from Kenya, serving as the referee assessor.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 local time, with both Egypt and Ghana eager to claim the upper hand before the return leg in their bid to secure a spot at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
