Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has written his name into the record books after surpassing Tony Yeboah to become the second-highest Ghanaian scorer in Premier League history.
The 25-year-old Bournemouth forward hit a brilliant brace in a 3-1 comeback win over Fulham at a drenched Vitality Stadium on Friday night, moving his Premier League tally to 26 goals – two more than Yeboah’s long-standing total of 24.
Semenyo’s latest feat also continued his sparkling start to the season, taking his league goal count to six, a figure bettered only by Erling Haaland (8).
He also provided an assist, his third of the campaign, placing him among the division’s most creative players so far.
In just 88 Premier League appearances, Semenyo has become one of Ghana’s most efficient scorers in England, averaging a goal every three matches.
His consistency now brings him closer to the ultimate target, Jordan Ayew’s record of 42 goals, which leads the Ghanaian Premier League scoring chart.
Behind the top two are Jeffrey Schlupp (22 goals) and André Ayew (21 goals), both key contributors to Ghana’s Premier League legacy.
Schlupp remains the only one of the quartet to have won the title, achieving the feat with Leicester City in 2016.
