Ghana’s Ministry of Sports and Recreation is waiting on final clearance from the Presidency for the budget covering the Black Stars’ upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
Sports Minister Kofi Adams confirmed that the Ghana Football Association submitted its estimates on September 18, with the Ministry forwarding the proposal to the Office of the President a day later.
The total request stands at $1.12 million, split between the away trip to Casablanca for the October 8 clash against the Central African Republic ($733,000) and the October 12 home fixture against Comoros in Accra ($387,000).
The proposed allocation includes travel, accommodation, per diems, training facilities, officiating costs, match bonuses, and other support services to ensure smooth preparations.
Kofi Adams stressed that the budget follows existing financial guidelines and that the players’ welfare remains at the heart of the plan.
“The players remain our priority, and we have treated them with respect and professionalism,” he assured.
With Ghana needing at least four points from the two fixtures to keep their qualification hopes alive, the Minister highlighted the urgency of timely approval to avoid logistical challenges.
